Awakening: Book One

STAY ON THE PATH, TRUST NO ONE BUT YOURSELF, AND BEWARE OF NIGHTMARES LURKING IN THE SHADOWS.

Beneath the rolling hills of North Carolina lies an ancient evil, shackled for a millennium, and growing impatient for freedom. People have long forgotten the rule of magic and the guardians who contained his destruction, but the nightmares from their dreams hide in dark corners, very real and very much willing to do their master’s dark bidding.

For Beth’s 25th birthday, her husband and their best friend promised her a relaxing hike at their favorite spot on the Appalachian Trail. After the sun sets, the woods where Beth hoped to find peace turn sinister with talks of death cultists, witches, and interdimensional beings not native to this planet. If this wasn’t enough to shatter her trust foundations, Beth learns her role in this messed up weekend. She must find the courage to let go of her attachments and escape before the forest keeps her for good.

Harbinger: Book Two

LISTEN TO YOUR HEART, STEER CLEAR OF STRANGERS, AND HEED THE WARNING SIGNS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE.

Distracted by loss, Beth and Grady forget that evil never sleeps. Their misstep could cost more than Mayes Hill, TN, but everything they hold dear. Beth’s grief is suffocating…and so is her guilt, yearning for another man so soon after becoming a widow. Riddled with regrets, she finds a distraction in the form of her new neighbor and personal savior, Fennick. He’s handsome and suave…and surrounded by dark secrets. Beth teeters on the edge of curiosity and caution while juggling the insecurities eating at her confidence. How can she learn magic from the man she avoids and defend the world when she can’t even mend a broken heart?

Grady can’t seem to catch a break, either. Caught on the same boat but with a different breeze, he spends his days in the Grove, giving Beth the space she wanted. When he remembers Curtis Putnam-the last of Ja’azul’s cult members-was left unchecked, Grady races home. When he arrives, he finds a bloody Beth and more trouble than he can deal with, especially when the boys in blue show up.

HOLD TIGHT, FIGHT HARD, MOVE FAST… SOME THINGS ARE WORTH FIGHTING FOR, BUT SOMETIMES YOU GOTTA RUN.

In this final installment, our heroes struggle to find the light among so much darkness. Ja’azul’s denizens sow fear and chaos, while the National Guard locks the town down with tanks and guns. It’s the lightbringer guardians’ duty to fight, even if it means on his own. Without Fennick’s help, Grady has no choice but to break his promise and leave Beth’s side. The only problem is, he has no clue when or where Ja’azul and his army will touch down on mountain soil.

Meanwhile, Rich promises to keep vigil until she wakes from her magical coma with Zeus keeping him company. Fennick and the Pickman sisters do what they do best: Take out the bad guys with as much of a ruckus—and flair—as they can muster.

The outcome looks bleak, but hope remains on the horizon just outside of reach. When the unlikeliest of allies joins their forces, will it be enough to sway the tides in Earth’s favor? Or will Ja’azul prevail, leaving some unlucky enough to survive a barren wasteland?
